And I LOVE being back to drinking coffee now that I am feeling so much better.

The Rule of Three
They say things come in 3s:
What's your favourite list of Three Things.

Time out for Mom

Now normally, people tend to think BAD things come in sets of threes.

The Three Witches, aka "The Weird Sisters," in Shakespeare's Macbeth, who also make the famous utterance:  "Double, double toil and trouble,"
The more modern movie "Hocus Pocus" also features 3 witches.

There is also the Three Fates of Greek Mythology, said to control the thread of a man's life from birth to death.

Fate seemed to conspire against 3 items for us lately:  the car (ice in gas line), the oven (broke), and the dishwasher liner.
So, guess we are done now.

And of course, serial killers are often known by their 3 given names;  Lee Harvey Oswald,  John Wilkes Booth, Mark David Chapman.

However, The Rule Of Three, as a writing principle, suggests that things of 3 are inherently funnier, more satisfying, and overall more effective than any other number.

The 3 Little Pigs, Goldilocks and the 3 Bears,  Scrooge is visited by 3 ghosts,  the 3 Stooges

And of course, we have the Father, the Son, and the Holy Ghost:  The Holy Trinity

"omne trium perfectum"
from the Latin, meaning; everything that comes in threes - is perfect.  Complete.

To test the theory, I asked my family to contribute their Favourite sets of threes.

ZooZoo:   actually, the littlest minion was too busy playing Bejeweled to answer the prompt.
Bejeweled 3: match 3 gems!
Angel Girl:   she would like 3 flowers.   Pink please.    I am not sure she completely understands the prompt, however, flowers do seem to be her answer for everything.
Especially in the midst of a soccer game.

She takes this very seriously folks.    She still has the very first pink rose grandpa gave her:
(yes, she sprayed glitter gloss on it to preserve.)

Monkey Boy:  took 1.7 seconds to answer in the midst of playing Minecraft:  pizza, pop, movie.
And that's how a Friday night Family tradition was born.

Left Brain:  first response was banana split.   Wait....what?   how's that 3?
Oh, I guess the 3 scoops of ice cream, with 3 different sauces, 3 cherries.    Got it.

And now I want ice cream.
Then he switched to the Lord of the Rings Trilogy.

And now I want to watch movies AND eat ice cream.   Great.

Which leaves me.    And back to that 3 being perfect and complete thing:

Ice Cream!!!
As for hobbies, I am a wee bit obsessed with these 3 trees down by our river:

And I will never ever turn down my own holy hat trick: Coffee, Chocolate and a good book!

Are your sets of  threes a bad twist of fate; or do they complete you?

Next Week: Gimme Five.   Reasons for Living that is.
