Recently my mom showed up with... like... a gazillion pounds of fresh, wild blueberries.
Which IS awesome!

The kids were really excited and were popping those little bursts of  Smurfalicious goodness in their mouths like crazy.

For about 10 minutes.
At which point they declared "we are sick of blueberries."

Which leaves me with only about a kajillion fresh, wild blueberries -- and only me to eat them all.

I knew I could make muffins - and they would eat them because Muffins!!!
But what to do with the remaining half a kajillion blueberries?

Good thing I was having company that night and needed a dessert!

Fresh Blueberry Cobbler


1 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
1/2 cup sugar
1/4 tsp salt
1 1/2 tsp baking powder
3/4 cup whole milk
1/3 cup butter, melted
2 cups fresh wild blueberries
1/3 cup sugar
1 tsp vanilla extract


 Add flour, 1/2 cup sugar, salt and baking powder to mixing bowl; stir to combine.
Add in milk and butter; stir to combine.  (I actually use a whisk.)
Spread batter into a greased 8 inch square baking pan.
Sprinkle berries evenly over batter.
Sprinkle with 1/3 cup of sugar and drizzle with vanilla.

Bake at 350 degrees for 40-45 minutes or until a pick comes out clean.

Serve plain, or top with ice cream while still warm.

*You can opt to cook your blueberries first in a skillet,simmered with the sugar and a couple tablespoons of water in a saucepan until the sugar dissolves. Then pour the blueberry mixture over the batter and top with a crumbly mixture of quick-cooking oats, cin., brown sugar, and butter. *

I highly recommend you go warm with ice cream.
